Determine If Your Online Copy Works

I promised you folks more automation secrets, so here’s a
big one. I really didn’t want to let this one out of the
bag, but it’s too important to keep to myself.

It’s all about doing away with time-intensive split
testing. Split testing, simply put, means running two
different versions of the same thing to see what pulls
better, just changing one thing at a time.  Maybe changing
headlines, for example. The better converter wins. Some of
the biggest names in marketing think this is the way to go.
I beg to differ.

I learned how to split test from marketing expert John
Reese. He’s great, but I don’t use his method anymore. But
I did use his methods to find better ones, since his uses
pay per click and costs too much, especially for people
just starting out. What I found was not only less
expensive, it took less time from me.

Ever heard of multi-variate testing? Yeah, me neither until
I happend to stumble accross it on the web. It is to split
testing what the V-8 engine was to Henry Ford’s oringinal
single cylinder. It tests multiple parts of your copy at
once, not just the old split test one-at-a-time-and-we-grow
old-waiting-for-the-results. Better yet, it’s not on you to
determine the best substitutes; these have built-in
databases of thousands of proven winning elements that it
could substitute and test.  The proof would be higher
conversion rate with automatically optimized copy.

And what extensive part did I have to play in this? Ummm…
I installed it, and looked at my sales letter periodically,
just to see how it was changing. Too cool.

What I did was to test a “big name” automatic split-test
software against the two big selling multi-variate testing
packages out there. Both of the multi-variate ones smoked
the split tester. I actually like the less expensive one,
because it outperforms the more expensive one. You don’t
exactly get what you pay for. And I found that the numbers
don’t lie. You can check it yourself at MuVar.com … I
don’t want to tell you the other, because I’m not here to
make enemies.  You can find out by doing a web search, but
take my advice and save your money.

Bottom line is that you want to spend more time in the sun.
Do you want to instead spend time testing away with
detailied, intricate split testing, or optimized copy which
improves with each sale?  There should be no question here.
