Seeking Balance
http://www.seekingbalance.ca

As the school year comes to an end, I find this month a very busy
time. With the summer vacation coming, many of us are looking
forward to a less hectic schedule and more down time. This all seems
like a great summer plan, yet the summer seems to pass us by so
furiously and in September we are asking ourselves, where has the
summer gone??? We may end up feeling just as stressed and exhausted
when school starts as when it ended.

So, how can we begin to slow down and ensure a memorable and
rejuvenating few months?

Consider first the reasons why you may be demanding so much of
yourself. What is the rush? Does everything need to be done at this
moment? Can you take small steps towards achieving big goals instead
of feeling the need to accomplish it all at once? The summer flies
by so pick your projects sparingly so you can have time to enjoy the
kids and still have down time for Mom as well.

To be more productive and efficient in reaching our goals, we need to
take time for renewal. How do you fit some relief into your busy
life?

Start by making a habit of deep breathing several times throughout
the day. It triggers an automatic relaxation response and can be
done anywhere. It keeps you focused in the present moment and
reduces stress immediately. For more ways to reduce stress where the
kids are concerned, check out my FREE e-course on How to Prevent a
MumME Meltdown at www.seekingbalance.ca under Free Resources.

Take frequent small breaks whether you are home or at work. Coffee
breaks were designed for a reason, so use them effectively. Do not
pass on your break thinking you will accomplish more. We need this
down time for maximum efficiency. Be aware however, of how you spend
your break, because a healthy snack, short walk, and stretch are more
energy producing than a coffee and doughnut. If you are home, take
time to relax outdoors with a cool drink and revel in the beauty of
the sights and sounds of the summer season.

Do what you love on a regular basis. If you have a favorite sport or
activity, make sure you participate in it often. An hour or two a
week of doing what you love can have many positive benefits, mentally
and physically. Having time for yourself during the summer gives you
the stamina and energy to enjoy more fully, your time with the kids.

Ask the kids at the beginning of the summer, what are some of their
favorite past times. This way you can plan ahead and your children
get to feel valued by being asked. It also ensures that they get to
enjoy what they really love to do. Be aware though of over
scheduling your summer. Strike a balance of fun activities for all
family members involved.Â

Make your holidays a priority. Vacations are a luxury no longer–
they are a necessity. You need time to recharge and rejuvenate from
the daily stressors. If you are having a difficult time taking
vacation due to job demands, consider taking a day of down time when
you can squeeze it in. Remember; nurture yourself first and everyone
else will also benefit.

Make exercise, sleep, and good nutrition part of a healthy, rewarding
summer for the whole family. There is nothing harder than reaching
September and having those extra pounds to lose and having to get
back into an exercise routine. With less of a regular routine for
many families it is easy to get away from established healthy
routines regarding meals and sleep. There is opportunity for many
late nights, yummy barbequed hot dogs and huge ice creams cones to
cool down on a hot day. A summer certainly wouldn’t be a summer
without all these things. Keep in mind, however, more isn’t better
in this case. Enjoy and savor them all when you have the opportunity
but balance it out with days of early nights, corn on the cob and a
frozen yogurt!!!

The most important thing to remember about the upcoming summer months
is to make them memorable. You do that by being present and taking
the time to stop and smell the roses. As most of you realize, life
passes us by very quickly and we don’t appreciate the time we do have
together as a family. Often we are so busy with schedules, yard work
and disciplining that the real memories pass us by… a bike ride
through a beautiful trail, the marshmallow roast on a moonlit night,
the camping trip when the tent fell down and the water fight when Mom
got soaked from a water balloon gone wrong.

So, this summer make sure at the top of your to do list it says…
Enjoy!!! And not just the special occasions but every occasion
because life really is just one big special occasion, isn’t it?

So when you are kicking up your heels in delight and someone asks you
what you are celebrating you can say… Life!!!!

——————————————————–

It has been said that change is the only constant in life.
Change is taking place everywhere around us, all the time.
As we navigate the winds of change, we all need support:
whether going through a divorce, recovering from an
illness, embarking on a spiritual awakening or starting
over in a new community.

All forms of change require us to learn new ways of being
and functioning. One of the most valuable gifts you can
give yourself during times of change is to find appropriate
support. A basic understanding of the learning process
that moves us through change will boost your ability to
find meaningful support for every stage of your journey.

Humans move through three core stages in every area of
change and growth – whether you are trying out a new sport
or adjusting to life after losing a loved one. You may find
yourself at a beginning stage in one area or your life and
an advanced stage in other areas of your life. Success
lies in being able to determine how your personal learning
needs to be support with appropriate feedback, support or
adjustment. When we get stuck in any one stage, growth
stagnates.

Beginning Stage – Knowledge

The beginning stage of learning or change is the thinking
or cognitive stage. This is the stage where you may decide
to learn more about something – perhaps you choose to
explore spiritual realities and delve into many traditions,
teachings and materials. During this stage, you spend a
lot of time acquiring information, processing new concepts
mentally, and figuring out how everything fits together.

During the beginning phase, personal growth tends to be
sporadic, uncoordinated and often somewhat lopsided – not
unlike watching a toddler taking their first solo steps.
Mistakes are common and it is often difficult to filter out
irrelevant information, since discernment is a skill that
gets refined with time and practice. You may get
overwhelmed easily when there are too many things happening
in your life at one time or if you put pressure on yourself.

One of the most valuable forms of support during this phase
is to ask for constructive feedback and encouragement from
others. You can also support your own progress by giving
yourself room and grace to fail, and making a commitment to
keep going after each setback. Repeated effort provides
the practice needed to become more familiar with the new
skill or learning.

Intermediate Stage – Application

In the intermediate stage, you start applying what you have
learned so far to implement meaningful change into your
life. You now move beyond simply knowing about things into
practical application of your knowledge; you experiment
with new and different ways of being in order to live it.
During this phase, you start connecting the dots in your
learning. With the experience gained from practical
application, you start shifting your perspective to embrace
new attitudes. On the spiritual journey, this stage finds
you moving out of the intellect and into the heart, from
where you start clearing away everything that is illumined
by your emerging Higher Awareness as no longer useful.

During the application stage, you may try many different
approaches to your goal before experiencing a sense of
accomplishment. Clients looking for tools of
self-transformation often experiment with different
meditation techniques or forms of exercise during this
stage. Since practical application brings about real-world
outcomes, you may also become acutely aware of the external
environment in which you operate. This heightened
sensitivity can bring with it a strong need for external
encouragement on your progress to build confidence and
assurance. If not balanced with your personal convictions,
this need for external affirmation can evolve into
expectations of external validation that may erode your
personal power.

On the journey of personal growth, you will spend most of
your time in this stage, continuously challenging and
clearing outdated beliefs to facilitate continued growth.
Constructive feedback becomes vitally important and you may
rely on a few trusted sources for feedback. There is also
a need to balance input from others with increasing
responsibility for your own growth. You take on more
responsibility by actively maintaining balance, clearing
out dissonant beliefs, aligning to your core truths and
reconciling your inner life with outer differences.

Advanced Stage – Integration

In advanced states of learning, you take full
responsibility for your actions and your behavior becomes
self-regulating. You have moved from the stage of knowing
about things, to doing it, and now you are becoming it.Â
You no longer look outside yourself for affirmation,
guidance and support, but find it through your ever-present
connection to Source. Listening and dialoging with the
Divine Presence within, becomes an automatic, on-going
process that facilitates personal diagnosis and adjustment
in areas of imbalance whenever needed.

Functioning at this level brings about a keen awareness of
your interconnectedness to all forms of life. This
emerging awareness makes you highly effective at being a
positive influence for change, shifting the level of
consciousness around you simply through the sum total of
what you have become. At this level, growth or development
may be incremental and may appear smaller, because the
individual deals with fine-tuning and deep inner work that
may not be visible to others.

The next time you feel a little lost on your path, take a
look at which stage of learning you are at in the area
where you feel wobbly. Then, find support that will offer
you appropriate correction and feedback for that stage of
your process. You’ll be amazed at the difference this
awareness brings!

Within Paganism, there are a large variety of beliefs, dieties, and concepts.
However, we (much like Christianity) have certain core values and beliefs that
are central to paganism. Some of our core beliefs include:

Respect For Nature
A Belief in Harming None (including both yourself and others!)
Belief in Deity or Deities (differs depending on denomination)
Mutual Respect for All Life
A Belief in “Magick”

While some pagans believe in only one Goddess, and one God, others may believe
in ONLY a Goddess, or ONLY a God, or MANY different Gods and Goddesses. Also,
some pagan paths are more centered on working “Magick” (the ability to make
things happen using willpower and nature) than others. Generally speaking,
pagans of all denominations are kind, caring individuals that believe that it is
wrong to harm any living creature (including plants!). We believe in the law of
three…which tells us that whatever actions we do to others, will be brought
back upon us threefold. So if we do something bad to someone else, it will come
back to us three times as bad.

Pagans are very earth-concious, and live in harmony with nature. They see nature
as a living being, and want to treat her with kindness and respect. Pagans also
come from all walks of life…there are rich pagans, poor pagans, black pagans,
white pagans, indian pagans, old pagans, young pagans…you get the idea! In
fact you have probably met many pagans on the street and didn’t know they were
pagan! Most pagans do not actively show their religion, for fear of being
outcast or ridiculed by friends or family. Some pagans even lose their jobs, or
worse, just by admitting that they are pagan.

Pagans (including Wiccans, which is a denomination of Paganism) sometimes also
refer to themselves at “witches”. This can really intimidate or scare
Christians, as they imagine witches as being evil or cruel as history portrays
them. This is absolutely not true, and is only a stereotype. Many Wiccans are
reclaiming the word ‘witch’ as a word of power, believing that this word has
been unfairly maligned. There are people who use the term ‘witch’ who follow a
spiritual/religious/ethical path, but who are not specifically Wiccan.

The most common symbol for paganism is the pentacle. Pagans use this symbol much
like Christians use a cross or crucifix. Unfortunately, this symbol is also one
of the most misunderstood! What the pentacle symbolizes to pagans is the four
elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, and the point at the top symbolizes
Spirit, which is in everything around us. The circle around the 5 pointed star
represents unity. While the pentacle HAS been used in Satanism, Satanists use
the pentacle with the point facing DOWN. Pagans never use the pentacle in this
manner…the point is always up! (See more information about this in the What we
are NOT section.

Pagans generally celebrate 8 “sabbats”" (or holidays!) a year. These are covered
more extenstively in our Holidays section. We also celebrate 12 “esbats” a year
as well. An esbat is a celebration of the moon, usually when full. We celebrate
the moon, because it is a symbol of the Goddess, and it carries her power with
it.

Pagans also have “alters”, but these are not evil, archaic things. These are
usually a simple table or stand where we place our important magickal items,
such as incense, a chalice (which represents the goddess), an Athame (dagger)
which symbolizes the god, salt to represent earth, incense to represent air,
water, and a candle to represent fire. There may also be other items that a
pagan may place on their alter to help them with their rituals.

Pagans do “rituals” at major sabbats, esbats, or sometimes for other reasons
such as handfastings (pagan marriages), wiccanings (pagan baptising!), or other
special occasions. Ritual usually only involves casting a circle, calling upon
the diety, calling upon the 4 elements, and carrying out the ritual itself (such
as thanking the diety for the harvest, etc). Now, mind you, rituals and ways of
doing ritual vary greatly between denominations and individual pagans.

Some pagans do belong to a “coven”, which is a group of pagans who worship the
same diety, and have the same purpose and mindset in doing magick. Although some
pagans belong to covens, the majority of pagans are solitary, which means they
work alone.

These are the basics of what paganism is. Obviously I cannot cover every topic
on paganism without writing an entire book, but I hope that this article helps
you to understand the truth of paganism.

It has been said that evolution is being held up by fundamentalism and the surge of fundamentalism throughout all faith paths sends shivers through cynical atheists and mystics alike. The bumper sticker actually did get it right: “We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”

According to the 1987 classic, “The Different Drum: Community Making and Peace”, Dr. Scott Peck defines the spiritual life as fluid and that one may pass back and forth repeatedly through any of the four-probably more-stages of the soul.
Stage one upon this journey -that begins from within-is essentially our infancy in the spiritual life. Like a wild child, a person in this stage reflects the inner chaotic and anti-social, unregenerate soul that is interested only in its own self-satisfaction and ego, much like the stereotypical spoiled child. Stage one people may claim to love others, but their behavior reflects they love their own pleasure, money, power, prestige, and security above any other. For stage one people, it really is all about them. <!--more->

The good news is that the vast majority of humanity responds to that inner tug which is God, for lack of a better word. Katherine of Sienna wrote that within us all is the divine diamond. But life and all our baggage dulls the flame of our divine brilliance. Stage two souls seek to “let their light shine” and will live virtuous lives and do many good works. They also can be judgmental of others, self-righteous, rigid of thought, cold of heart, legalistic concrete literal thinkers and may even be guilty of a lukewarm faith. They want to do right and they even may desire to love and please God, but have not yet fully opened up to the Inner Light, as Joan of Ark did when she challenged church and state and persisted that she had intuited God within even as she was fried.

Stage two souls have not yet been set fully free and prefer the security of a higher human authority than themselves for guidance. They submit to institutions, scripture, dogma, ritual, ministers, or gurus. This is the most appropriate stage for older children and most adults who live busy lives just trying to keep bread on the table and a dry roof above. The difference between a stage one and stage two soul, is that a one wouldn’t even notice a neighbor in need, while the two has awoken to the fact that we are to be our neighbor’s keepers and they will respond to a friend-and like the good Samaritan, even to a total stranger in need.

Most theologians would agree that the opposite of faith is not disbelief: the opposite of faith is fear. Stage three souls have not just fearlessly awoken, they have evolved! This evolution has led them to the realization of what Christ was really talking about in the Sermon of the Mount AKA:The Beatitudes which sound like crazy promises, but is the litmus test of how we will be judged, if we claim to be a Christian.

About 2,000 years ago, when Christ was about 33, he hiked up a hill and sat down under an olive tree and began to teach the people;
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.”
In other words: it is those who know their own spiritual poverty, their own limitations and sins honestly and trust God loves them in spite of themselves who already live in the Kingdom of God.

How comforted we will all be, when we see, we haven’t got a clue, as to the depth and breadth of pure love and mercy of The Divine Mystery of The Universe. God’s name in ancient Aramaic is Abba which means Daddy as much as Mommy and He/She: The Lord has said, “My ways are not your ways. My thoughts are not yours.” -Isaiah 55:8

Christ proclaimed more: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” The essence of meek is to be patient with ignorance, slow to anger and never hold a grudge. In other words: how happy you will be when you also know humility; when you know ourselves, the good and the bad, for both cut through every human heart.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, they will be filled.” In other words: how happy you will be when your greatest desire is to do what “God requires, and he has already told you what that is; BE JUST, BE MERCIFUL and walk humbly with your Lord.”-Micah 6:8

“Blessed are the merciful, they will be shown mercy.” In other words: how happy you will all be when you choose to return only kindness to your ‘enemy.’ “For with the measure you measure against another, it will be measured back to you.” Christ warns his disciples as he explains the law of karma in Luke 6:27-38.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they see God.” In other words: how happy you will be when you WAKE UP and see God is already within you, within every man, every woman and every child. The Supreme Being is everywhere, the Alpha and Omega, beginning and end. Beyond The Universe -and yet so small; within the heart of every atom.

“Blessed are The Peacemakers: THEY shall be called the children of God.” Oh how happy the WORLD will be when we all seek justice and pursue it, for there can be no peace without justice.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires, theirs is The Kingdom of Heaven.” And one fine day the lion will lie down with The Lamb and man will make war no more and that is the Kingdom of God.

Now, a stage three soul may well reject Christ as God, but often agree with the philosophy of Jesus, which Thomas Jefferson laid out when he weeded out the miracle stories from the gospels and clarified the teachings of Christ in:

THE PHILOSOPHY AND MORALS of JESUS of NAZARETH

1. Be just: justice comes from virtue which comes from the heart.
2. Treat people the way we want to be treated.
3. Always work for PEACEFUL resolutions, even to the point of returning violence with COMPASSION.
4. Consider valuable the things that have no material value.
5. Do not judge others.
6. Do not bear grudges.
7. Be modest and unpretentious.
8. Give out of true generosity, not because we expect to be repaid.
9. Being true to one’s self in more important than being loyal to one’s family…those who think they know the most are the most ignorant…

A stage three soul will see that a neighbor is everyone on the planet and not just those who think and look the same. Stages threes are seekers, doubters, skeptics, atheists, agnostics and frequently adults who grew up disenchanted with institutionalized religion. Their inherent intellectual curiosity leads them to seek their way towards the Mystery of the Divine through philosophy and the study of multiple faith paths choosing and discarding according to their “inner light.” Stage three souls often become activists for social justice and reform and the new wave of philanthropy from the blessed trio of Warren Buffet, Linda and Bill Gates fills mystics -and maybe some cynics?- with hope for a future that honors the unique sacredness of every life.

It has been said we are all called to be mystics in the market place and a stage four, such as Thomas Merton and Rumi give voice to that experience of the curtain being lifted and seeing through the glass a bit less darkly. A mystic can best be understood as one who is in love with the divine mystery and is viscerally connected to the unity of all creation. Mystics are not navel gazers, they feel the pain of the world within their hearts and grieve at what humans do to the other when they have no clue that The Divine is within the other as much as within themselves. Mystics have detached from their concepts of God-not by their own efforts, but by the invitation and action of God upon a willing and simple soul in love with Pure Being, AKA:God.

The mystic fool, Saint Francis, the leper kisser of Assisi, was so head over heels in love with God in everyone and all of creation that most people of his time considered him crazed, or at least, extremely eccentric. One needn’t be a mystic or move beyond stage two on the spiritual journey to do what is good and right just because it is good and right. On that foundation alone people of faith, atheists and agnostics can surely find something to agree upon. Or would only a mystic see that?

One of my favorite expressions is that “you reap what you sow”.
While I often hear it used negatively by someone who expects
some “chickens to come home to roost” I prefer to think of it
as something positive. How comforting to think that all our
hard work and toil will be rewarded with a crop of something
good? How wonderful to think that putting love and care into
some project or person will indeed be rewarded.

Of course, while most Americans give lip service to the notion
of our right to pursue happiness, all too many people do not
really believe it applies to them. Many people simply believe
they don’t deserve happiness. And even those few who do believe
it seem to accept unhappiness as simple bad luck.

Every person does indeed deserve happiness and what is more
happiness is contagious. The more happy people there are around
then even more people will find happiness. We owe it ourselves
to work on our own happiness and we owe it to society as well.
Our own happiness will help others and inspire others to find
happiness. If we are unhappy then we are likely making others
unhappy as well (even if unintentionally) and it is extremely
unlikely we are doing much to contribute to the happiness of
others.

So how do you become a happy person? You simply reap your own
happiness. But how? Take these four simple steps:

Step one — Ready Yourself For Happiness

You can accomplish this step by first determining that you want
to be happy. Part of being happy is wanting to be happy. Once
you have committed yourself to the course of finding happiness
for yourself then you must rid yourself of the notion that
happiness is luck or based on possessions or persons. No thing
and no one can make you happy. Happiness comes from within
yourself.

Step two — Envision Yourself As Happy

Every day when you first wake up and at various points during
the day spend some time envisioning yourself as a happy person.
Picture yourself laughing, smiling, relaxing. Imagine yourself
as happy. The more you can fix this image of yourself as happy
in your mind then the easier it will be for you to truly become
happy.

Step three — Assume You Will Be Happy

Many people tend to assume that they will spend much of their
lives either unhappy or at least not really happy. However we
have all seen those people who do seem to be genuinely happy
with their lives. They smile frequently, laugh often, and seem
to be in good humor most of the time. Yet this is not because
they are richer or more successful. Sometimes these people were
just born with the good fortune to have an optimistic outlook
that life has not yet knocked out of them, but often these
people have simply chosen that they will be happy and they
recognize that there is always something about their lives that
makes them happy. You know this is true of yourself as well.
Concentrate on the areas of your life that give you happiness
whenever you feel unhappiness seeping in and no matter what
assume that you will be, you can be, a happy person.

Step four — Pursue Your Happiness

Happiness is rarely a wonderful accident of fate. Happiness is
rarely found by accident. While you may find happiness in
unexpected places you must first open yourself to the
possibility of happiness and prepare yourself to accept it when
you find it. Some people are so miserable that they step right
around happiness when they encounter. Don’t let this happen to
you. What is more, don’t simply sit at home waiting for
happiness to come knocking on your door. Go out and live life.
Think about what currently makes you happy and spend time in
those activities and think about what might make you happy and
spend time experimenting. The more time you spend actively
living your life then the more likely that you will also lead a
happy life.

Remember, you deserve a happy life and you can lead a happy
life, but in the end you reap what you sow. If you are sowing
happiness in your life then you will reap happiness as well.

Our mind tells us comfort equals safety. Our mind tells us
what is certain is preferred over what is uncertain. Our
mind has been conditioned to aspire to small insignificant
progress or worse, to tolerate periods of extreme
complacency.

Our mind, left to its own primal patterns will lead us to
live pathetic lives that neither inspire nor fulfill us.
The mind must be guided by the spirit and only then can we
reach our higher aspirations and fulfill our higher
purpose. Here’s a little experiment you can do to prove to
yourself the mind’s agenda often deviates from the spirit’s
intention; for seven days, try something as simple as
installing one life enhancing pattern consistently without
interruptions or succumbing to your excuses. What you are
likely to discover is the unruly child-mind throwing its
tantrum, holding its breath, scowling at your with contempt
because you, Spirit, have the audacity to ask it to change
for your greater good.

When I was a child, I use to have tantrums, too. I
distinctly remember falling out in the parking lot of
Robert Hall’s Department Store and my mother, a creative
disciplinarian who specialized in unexpected responses to
unacceptable behavior, told me to get up because they were
leaving, with or without me. She and my sisters walked to
the car, got in, and proceeded to pull slowly out of the
parking lot. I was totally shocked. I stopped crying, I got
up and quickly proceeded to the car as they opened the car
door to let me in. Tantrum over, mission accomplished.

The mind is a child. Its intelligence will always include
some primal remnants that equate change to death,
discomfort to death, and discipline to death. It must be
trained and given guidance by a loving but firm spirit in
order to fulfill its true purpose.

Are you going to let the child rule you, refuse to grow,
spend its life staying small, safe, and unfulfilled? You,
Spirit, are the only parent it has. Do your job and all
will be well.

Here are five simple exercises you can do to train your
mind to be at your service:

1. Take on a small project that requires some level of
discipline that you would normally not bring to the table.
Complete the project successfully.

2. Eliminate a counter-productive habit that you are
addicted to, such as drinking coffee, hitting the snooze
button on the alarm clock, not drinking sufficient
quantities of water, etc.

3. Read about the true nature of addiction and discover
your own and how it is ruining your life then decide, fully
aware of the consequences, if you will continue done that
path and every time you indulge remind yourself of the
consequences you are choosing.

4. Observe other people living chaotic, problematic lives
and then own up to where you are also doing the same thing.

5. Do a 12-month survey and note your biggest
accomplishments, now discover how you did it and how you
can transfer some knowledge and wisdom to other areas of
your life to produce equally stellar results.

—————————————————-

The didgeridoo is one of the oldest instruments to make music in the world. It has been used in traditional Aboriginal ceremonies across the top end of Australia for tens of thousands of years. According to the myths of creation the sound of the didgeridoo helped create the world and everything in it. Originally, Aboriginal groups predominantly played the didgeridoo from the Kiberly region of Western Australia, through to the areas around current day Darwin and Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory.

 Â

Traditionally and Aborigine would go into nature and listen intensely to animal sounds, not just voices but also the flapping of wings or the thump of feet on the ground. This is the original music.

 Â

The Aborigine would also listen to the sounds of wind, thunder, trees creaking, and water running. The essences of all thee sounds were played with as much accuracy as possible within the droning sound of the didgeridoo. For the Aborigine, the observation of nature immediately requires a state of empathy, which leads to an imitative expression. Being one with nature is the first step in meeting your soul. Just ask the Druids. Elemental experimentation.

 Â

Making music and sounds from the didgeridoo is not hard. Making didgeridoo music requires pressing your lips tight against the inside of the mouthpiece and steadily squeezing air through your lips so they vibrate. If your nose tickles, your getting it right. By tightening and widening the shape of your lips where the air flows out, you can alter the pitch of the sound called the didgeridoo drone. You should ensure that the entire mouthpiece is covered so air cannot escape.

 Â

The next step in playing the didgeridoo and getting some musical sounds out of it is adding voice to the wind you blow into the mouthpiece. This can be a high or low pitch sound which resonates inside the didgeridoo creating more varied sound. The experienced didgeridoo player can makes calls and other sounds still breathing out and vibrating the lips, mimicking animal and human sounds and noises. This gives a wide variety of calls and tones to play with.

 Â

The final and most difficult part of playing the didgeridoo is circular breathing. This is the process of breathing in through your nose while at the same time maintaining a steady outward air pressure through the mouth to keep the sound continuous. A healthy set of lungs is critical to circular breathing. It also takes plenty of practice to be able to maintain consistency and tone to the drone sound. Once you have mastered it, you should be able to create a continuous sound for many minutes. In the traditional use of the instrument the Aboriginals were able to play the didgeridoo for hours without stopping. This is important for those of you that are using the didgeridoo in order to meditate or produce trance like states. Once you can get the sound continuous, you can close your eyes and drone out similar to the yogi’s saying AHMMMMMMMM.

The effect of playing the didgeridoo and its sounds on the body happens by stimulation of the acupuncture meridians which end on the lips. As the lips vibrate from the music, the meridians are constantly activated so that the energy flows easily. Meridians are often described as channels of energy running through the body. These channels are able to assimilate CHI energy from outside, which is then distributed throughout the body.

The dilemma comes when one day you realize you’re an adult. Suddenly you have the realization that all of your childhood illusions should have by now taken place. It now seems that your whole precious experience has been a journey-and now you’re at the destination. Maybe you’re not sure this is where you really want to live.Â

 Â

These are just thoughts of an average man, things that trouble me from time to time and I wonder if the same thoughts nag other people, or if maybe I should just try to ignore my deeper thought and try to preoccupy myself with the mindless activities and social games that seem to prevail over everyone else’s minds.Â

 Â

I wonder if there is actually a just cause or a morality worth upholding and to what end. Who is capable of giving the reward for achieving the highest order?Â

 Â

Everything seems like a game of make believe, I cant really see the usefulness of anything except helping other people. Especially easing their suffering. Self interests seem to be based on the journey and destination road, i.e., you work hard and long (giving you a sense of purpose) then you succeed and feel great satisfaction for a while, but then the process is over and you have nothing to preoccupy your mind from the larger nagging inquiries of your now unfocused consciousness.Â

 Â

The same goes for when your happy. You shirk off deeper thoughts because everything is fine now, and you don’t want to deal with the larger issues. It’s like when your lying in bed and then bam, you realize that someday you will cease to exist, death. It freaks you out to the point of panic because there is nothing you can do about it. So you just try to preoccupy your mind with some other menial thought and hope you fall asleep. Sometimes in a way, life is nothing more than a distraction, an endless game of successive apprenticeships to different loyalties, used to avoid deeper issues.Â

 Â

Much time needs to be spent alone finding out what your own mind says and what your spirit is trying to guide you to do. To this point, sickness can be gift, for the fact that it causes you to stop and reevaluate life, a startling progress check.Â

 Â

Everyone at some point wants answers. The questions vary but all have the same theme. To what end are life’s activities? To be rich? To be held in high esteem? To be happy? To have a family? What is the ultimate goal to strive for? Lastly, whom are we trying to impress?Â

 Â

In the end, is a rich man less dead than a poor man? A wise man than an idiot? A president than peasant? So what does it really matter what you have accomplished in the end? Only that you where happy and helped while you were here.Â

A Few Bad Men -The Fall Of The West

It comes as a startling revelation or maybe more of a confirmation to my nagging inner voice that what the west so proudly pushes, is what drags the world down.

I see and understand the beauty of Christ, but hate what society and organized religion has done to the message and the souls of millions of people for hundreds of years.

I see the fault in the system put in place by a few power hungry men.
I see the mascots of native peoples…turned into demonic symbols.
I see a world that was one with us, turned into a bitch to be subdued, controlled and used. A great divide put between her children and their mother.

· Male dominance
· Power Mongers
· Rule Makers and Life Takers
· Sheep to be harvested for work an money

The one most fundamental truth of my life….
Has turned out to be the cause of holy wars, the clan, ethnic and cultural cleansing, massive brain washing and terminal dogma.

Love that was professed by the teacher…
Is missing in the text books of the students.
The students have taken over the school but have forgotten the curriculum.

When will we come back to realize that the church is for the sick, the hypocrites, the liars and the stealers?
That these people shouldn’t be shunned but guided.
Hospitals are for the sick, the well don’t need their help.
Take in those that are criticized, and show love to create love.

I once read about someone great who said (you may know him):
Come to me all ye who are tied and heavy laden and I will give you rest.
I am the way, the TRUTH and the LIGHT.
THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS WITHIN YOU.
BE STILL, and know that I am GOD.

There is more to life than meets the “I”

We begin the journey to soul.

Create your reality
SOLDADO
